About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Cultivate strategic relationships with architectural design team influencers and specifiers
  • Identify and secure opportunities to prepare door and hardware specifications
  • Provide timely and accurate product information for commercial project specifications
  • Deliver continuing educational programs highlighting new products, solutions, and design-assist services
  • Assist with product substitution and approval procedures and follow up through the bid process
  • Use Salesforce.com for customer relationship management, project tracking, and time management
  • Provide specification support and services to architectural firms
  • Serve as point of contact for architects’ education, specification, client satisfaction, and technical support needs
  • Manage architectural development and project tracking
  • Gain approval for internal writers to prepare Division 08 door and hardware specification documents
  • Promote adoption of the Openings Studio BIM tool
  • Present project proposals for value-added professional services

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • College/University degree preferred in architectural, design/engineering/drafting, construction science/management, business, or similar curricula, or minimum high school/GED diploma with commensurate work experience
  • At least 2–3 years of industry-related experience in architectural representation, specification writing, or Design-Build construction management may substitute for a degree
  • Knowledge of architectural product sales
  • Ability to read and understand specifications and facility standards
  • Industry-related technical and sales aptitude
  • Ability to travel within an assigned territory and meet customer requirements
  • Ability to work in a home office environment or while traveling
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs. of sample and display material
  • Strong communication, active listening, and negotiation skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools
  • Experience using and maintaining CRM tools for sales and activity reporting
  • Working knowledge of industry-related software is a plus
