About the role
- Represent clients in felony and misdemeanor jury trials from arraignment through verdict.
- Draft motions, conduct negotiations, and advocate at hearings and sentencing.
- Develop and execute defense strategies across a broad spectrum of criminal charges.
- Communicate with empathy while guiding clients through high-stakes legal situations.
- Partner with legal support staff to deliver excellent service from intake to resolution.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree.
- Active license to practice law in Iowa, or eligibility to obtain one promptly.
- 5+ years of experience handling criminal defense matters.
- Proven experience with jury trials through verdict (candidates without this experience will not be considered).
- Experience managing a caseload and legal files independently.
- Skilled oral advocate with a polished and professional courtroom presence.
- Strong organizational and case management abilities.
- Commitment to professionalism, teamwork, and client-centered service.
