About the role
- Well-established and highly profitable regional CPA firm seeking a Tax Manager.
- Role offers reasonable work-life balance, diverse portfolio of clients (SEC and closely held), and fast-track career progression.
- Licensed CPA required with extensive public accounting tax experience to manage complex returns and lead tax team.
- Perform technical tax review and approval of complex tax returns and governmental examinations.
- Assume responsibility for larger, more complex tax returns.
- Delegate and manage tax research projects and governmental tax examinations; potentially represent clients before taxing authorities.
- Supervise, develop, coach, and train tax staff (Supervising Seniors, Seniors, Staff accountants).
- Manage client service tasks to ensure accuracy and budget adherence.
- Maintain familiarity with tax staff qualifications to assign work and identify training needs.
- Hybrid or remote work arrangements available, preference for candidates in Hawaii or PST/MST time zones if remote.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required.
- Master’s degree in taxation is preferred.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in public accounting, demonstrating a proven progression in tax complexity, scope, and research.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience supervising and directing the work of tax preparers.
- Prefer experience with C-Corps, S-Corps, partnerships, and high-net-worth individual tax.
- A current and valid CPA license is required.
