Key responsibilities & impact

Create short-form social-first content for Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, YouTube Shorts, and X.
Conduct street interviews, vox pops, and community conversations.
Attend cultural events, concerts, launches, festivals, and local happenings.
Spotlight local businesses, restaurants, creators, artists, and emerging trends.
Pitch and develop original social content ideas and recurring series.
Film simple mobile-first content independently while maintaining strong storytelling instincts.
Collaborate with OkayAfrica’s editorial and social teams.
Help represent the voice, energy, humor, and culture of the continent in an authentic way.

Requirements

What you’ll need

Strong social media presence and understanding of internet culture.
Comfortable speaking to strangers and hosting on camera.
Naturally charismatic, energetic, conversational, and community-oriented.
Passionate about African culture, youth culture, music, fashion, lifestyle, and storytelling.
Experience in journalism, communications, media, hosting, or digital content creation preferred.
Able to work independently and move quickly in fast-paced environments.
Based in Africa (West Africa preferred for current hiring phase).
