About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Review submissions, obtain pertinent underwriting information to enable or assist the underwriter to accurately identify and assess exposures and risk hazards
Perform and/or coordinate completion of transactional underwriting duties with timeliness and accuracy including: preparation of proposals and binders; account invoicing; policy and endorsement issuance and processing of reinsurance transactions
Complete other underwriting account support tasks with minimal supervision as per company guidelines
Adhere to all service standards and respond with urgency to all internal and external customer requests
In partnership with the underwriter, provide complete and detailed documentation of the underwriting file for all discussions and decisions
Handle complex accounts and lead as a technical subject matter expert
Work with IT to represent the needs of the user group including user acceptance testing
May be responsible for onboarding/training/mentoring of new or less experienced UAs
Willingness to lead, take charge and offer opinions and direction

Requirements

What you’ll need

Five plus years’ underwriting assistance experience
High School Diploma or GED Equivalent; College preferred
Strong organizational skills with the ability to effectively handle multiple assignments, prioritize work and meet deadlines in a dynamic and results oriented environment
Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
Highly motivated proactive approach to job responsibilities, anticipates renewal cycles, plans for the known
Knowledge and working understanding of business and financial concepts
Ability to work in a detail oriented environment where accuracy is critically important
Strong customer service focus with the ability to effectively multi-task with limited direction
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
