About the role
- Pricing large deals: Partner with underwriters to customize structure, coverage, and price.
- Portfolio analysis and segmentation: Assess and monitor performance; report key metrics; identify pockets performing differently among unusually specialized deals; improve actuarial assumptions and techniques.
- Technology and Data: Create actuarial data products to enable efficiency; advanced actuarial analyses including predictive modeling and econometric variables on relatively large and complex data.
- Product Development: Create and optimize complicated insurance products, including design and filing strategy.
- Team leadership: Lead a large and varied team with strong teaching, project management and develop future actuarial leaders.
- Build strong relationships and become a trusted partner to internal and external partners.
- Department leadership: Set a positive example to our department as part of the actuarial senior leadership team.
Requirements
- Vice Presidents generally are FCAS with significant and broad industry experience with demonstrated success.
- Ability to independently turn problems into solutions, and partner with business unit executives.
- Demonstrated success learning and positively impacting specialty insurance products like Travel or Lenders.
- A strong mix of skills in actuarial theory, technology and data, large deal pricing and team leadership.
- Leadership and management: Strong teacher, teammate, project manager, people manager and dept. leader.
- Entrepreneurial skills: building new and innovative underwriting tools and advanced research projects.
- Superior communication skills are important for partnering with underwriters and presenting to business leaders.
