About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead the strategic planning cycle for the power business
- Shape divisional plans, performance measures and strategic priorities supporting long-term growth
- Drive prioritisation of power opportunities through portfolio frameworks
- Ensure capital is allocated to initiatives with the greatest strategic and commercial value
- Partner with senior leaders on Energy Solutions’ long-term power development strategy
- Provide insights on market trends, industry dynamics and emerging opportunities
- Develop business cases for organic growth initiatives and critical investment decisions
- Prepare high-quality analysis, board papers and executive-level presentations
- Influence business decisions and foster continuous improvement across portfolio governance and decision-making forums
- Provide analytical leadership and specialist support across power investment opportunities
Requirements
What you’ll need- Tertiary qualification in economics, commerce, engineering or a related discipline
- At least 5 years’ relevant experience, ideally in the energy sector
- Significant experience in strategy, portfolio analytics, investments or the energy sector
- Strong portfolio management capabilities
- Ability to develop priorities and frameworks supporting long-term business strategies
- Exposure to the National Electricity Market (NEM) and/or Wholesale Electricity Market (WEM)
- Understanding of market dynamics shaping Australia’s energy transition
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Proven ability to influence and build credibility with senior leaders and cross-functional teams
- Strong commercial acumen
- Exposure to assessing investment opportunities
- Understanding of power purchase agreements
- Experience working within wholesale electricity markets or broader energy businesses
- Must be eligible to work in Australia
- Subject to background vetting, including police checks, before and during employment
