About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assemble mechanical systems and structures based on technical drawings and 3D CAD models
  • Assemble and install prototypes to support research and development activities
  • Build electrical power distribution panels and electromechanical control panels
  • Fabricate cable assemblies and wire harnesses to required specifications
  • Route, organize, and secure cables for durability, reliability, and neatness
  • Perform light fabrication work, including drilling, cutting, and manual machining
  • Participate in the installation and commissioning of systems at client sites
  • Follow internal quality assurance and documentation procedures

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • College diploma or vocational diploma in electromechanics, mechanics, manufacturing, or a related field, or 10+ years of relevant professional experience
  • 5+ years of hands-on mechanical and/or electrical assembly experience in a professional setting
  • Valid driver’s licence
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and work safely in a workshop environment
  • Strong fine-motor skills and manual dexterity
  • Ability to assemble systems based on mechanical and electrical drawings, schematics, and detailed work instructions
  • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and measurement instruments
  • Experience with fabrication methods such as soldering, brazing, machining, or sheet-metal work is an asset
  • Experience assembling high-vacuum or cryogenic systems is an asset
  • Willingness and enthusiasm for learning new skills and techniques
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a solutions-oriented mindset
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team
  • Ability to work methodically and maintain a clean, organized workspace
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English due to collaboration with international teams
