About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design and develop hardware components, including schematics and PCB layout.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (software, mechanical, manufacturing) to ensure seamless integration.
- Perform hardware testing, validation, and debugging to meet performance and reliability standards.
- Implement automated test procedures to standardize modules.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications and test reports.
- Evaluate and select appropriate components and materials for hardware designs.
- Support manufacturing and production teams with hardware-related issues.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree (with 6+ years of industrial experience), MSc or PhD (with 3+ years of industrial experience) in hardware design and development.
- Proficiency with tools such as Altium Designer, OrCAD, or similar PCB design software.
- Strong knowledge of high-speed digital design, power electronics, and analog circuits.
- Familiarity with embedded systems and microcontrollers.
- Experience with CPUs, microprocessors, microcontrollers, and networking modules such as Ethernet, SFP+, or QSFP+.
- Experience in FPGA design and high-speed interfaces including JESD204B, JESD204C, PCIe, DDR3 or DDR4, and RF systems.
- Knowledge of compliance standards (EMC, safety, etc.).
- Hands-on experience in hardware prototyping and use of laboratory equipment.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and experience transitioning products from engineering to production.
- Strong teamworking skills, excellent organizational and communication abilities.
- Candidates must be Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or holders of an open work permit.
