About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design and develop hardware components, including schematics and PCB layout.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (software, mechanical, manufacturing) to ensure seamless integration.
  • Perform hardware testing, validation, and debugging to meet performance and reliability standards.
  • Implement automated test procedures to standardize modules.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications and test reports.
  • Evaluate and select appropriate components and materials for hardware designs.
  • Support manufacturing and production teams with hardware-related issues.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree (with 6+ years of industrial experience), MSc or PhD (with 3+ years of industrial experience) in hardware design and development.
  • Proficiency with tools such as Altium Designer, OrCAD, or similar PCB design software.
  • Strong knowledge of high-speed digital design, power electronics, and analog circuits.
  • Familiarity with embedded systems and microcontrollers.
  • Experience with CPUs, microprocessors, microcontrollers, and networking modules such as Ethernet, SFP+, or QSFP+.
  • Experience in FPGA design and high-speed interfaces including JESD204B, JESD204C, PCIe, DDR3 or DDR4, and RF systems.
  • Knowledge of compliance standards (EMC, safety, etc.).
  • Hands-on experience in hardware prototyping and use of laboratory equipment.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and experience transitioning products from engineering to production.
  • Strong teamworking skills, excellent organizational and communication abilities.
  • Candidates must be Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or holders of an open work permit.
