About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Build and maintain relationships with local elected officials, government agencies, economic development organizations, community groups, civic leaders, educational institutions, and workforce partners
- Develop and execute community engagement strategies across site selection, pre-development, construction, and ongoing operations
- Build external coalitions, host education and listening sessions, and design local community solutions
- Represent Anthropic in public forums, town halls, planning hearings, community events, and local media
- Monitor community sentiment and local political dynamics; advise internal teams on risks, opportunities, and engagement posture
- Partner with Real Estate and Infrastructure to incorporate community input into project planning and delivery
- Work with Communications on proactive, locally relevant messaging
- Coordinate charitable giving, community investment, and economic development commitments
- Manage nonprofit partner relationships
- Partner with Energy and Sustainability to explain environmental stewardship and address power, water, and land-use questions
- Build scalable community engagement processes and a playbook for Anthropic's infrastructure growth
- Travel regularly within the region, up to 50% of the time, and occasionally to other data center markets
Requirements
What you’ll need- Experience in community affairs, public affairs, economic development, government relations, local or regional government, or a closely related field
- Direct experience working with local governments and community stakeholders on large infrastructure, construction, energy, or technology projects
- Understanding of local politics and community dynamics
- Skilled relationship and coalition building
- Ability to represent a company credibly in town halls, hearings, and press interviews
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to translate complex operational plans into plain language
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple concurrent engagements across different markets
- Based in Texas or willing to relocate there
- Prepared to travel regularly across the region
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience
- Relevant field of study demonstrated through coursework, training, or professional experience
