About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Design and implement robust data access control systems, including permission management, audit logging, IAM policies, ACLs, and security controls
Build and maintain data pipelines and warehouses for business-critical financial reporting
Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and availability for financial systems and revenue, usage, and business metrics
Manage external relationships and upstream dependencies for third-party revenue ingestion pipelines
Architect disaster recovery, backup, and replication systems for petabyte-scale data
Ensure high availability and durability of cloud object storage and enable rapid data recovery
Scale data processing infrastructure using BigQuery, BigTable, Airflow, dbt, and Spark
Optimize query performance, manage costs, and enable self-service analytics across the organization
Set technical direction for teams and lead large-scale infrastructure projects
Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, business stakeholders, and technical and non-technical partners

Requirements

What you’ll need

10+ years of experience in a Software Engineer role, excluding internships or co-ops
Experience building data infrastructure, storage systems, or related distributed systems
3+ years of experience leading large-scale, complex projects or teams as an engineer or tech lead, excluding internships or co-ops
Ability to set technical direction for a team
Strong proficiency in Python, Go, Java, or similar programming languages
Experience with infrastructure-as-code, including Terraform or Pulumi
Experience with cloud platforms such as GCP or AWS
Ability to navigate tradeoffs between performance, cost, security, and maintainability
Experience with security and compliance requirements such as ITGC, GDPR, and financial controls
Background in data warehousing, ETL/ELT pipelines, or analytics infrastructure
Experience with Kubernetes, containerization, and cloud-native architectures
Knowledge of column-oriented databases, OLAP systems, or big data processing frameworks
Experience in fintech, financial services, or highly regulated environments may be beneficial
Security engineering background focused on data protection and access controls may be beneficial
Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience
Relevant field of study demonstrated through coursework, training, or professional experience
Staff are expected to work from one of the company's offices at least 25% of the time
