About the role

  • Own and maintain prioritized product backlogs for AutoTune and related products
  • Write detailed user stories with clear, testable acceptance criteria that engineers love
  • Participate in scrum events as a core team member and lead work prioritization during sprint planning and backlog refinement
  • Make sprint-level prioritization decisions within the strategic framework set by product leadership
  • Partner closely with engineering leads to evaluate technical feasibility, manage technical debt, and make informed trade-offs between new features and refactoring or stability work
  • Unblock developers continuously—clarify requirements, answer questions, make tactical trade-offs
  • Support QE team’s definition of test cases and acceptance testing approaches
  • Conduct user interviews to validate assumptions and uncover workflow pain points
  • Use product analytics and usage data to inform prioritization decisions
  • Analyze competitive landscape, including emerging AI vocal tools
  • Synthesize user feedback from support tickets, community forums, and surveys
  • Partner with Design to prototype and validate user-centric features before engineering handoff
  • Write, maintain, and present PRDs and MRDs
  • Translate complex technical capabilities into user-facing benefits
  • Be the voice of the user and product in engineering discussions
  • Document decisions, trade-offs, and rationale for future reference
  • Communicate progress and blockers clearly to cross-functional stakeholders

Requirements

  • 4-5+ years of product management or product owner experience in software development environments (though not necessarily music tech)
  • Exceptional Agile/scrum product ownership skills
  • Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle
  • Excellence at writing user stories and acceptance criteria
  • Strong collaboration skills with engineering teams
  • Design thinking and user-centered design experience
  • Genuine passion for music software
  • Proficiency with a major DAW and understanding music production workflows
  • Scrum Product Owner certification (CSPO or equivalent) preferred
  • Background in consumer software, SaaS, or creative tools (Adobe, Figma, Notion, etc.) preferred
  • Experience with user research methodologies beyond interviews (surveys, usability testing, analytics) preferred
  • Competency & fluency with AI tools to improve product management workflows preferred
  • Technical background or ability to understand DSP concepts at a high level preferred
  • Personal creative experience producing music or using vocal processing tools preferred
  • Active participation in music production communities (Reddit, Discord, forums) preferred
  • Experience working with subscription business models preferred
  • Empathy for those with the fear of singing (we test our own software!)
