About the role
- Own and maintain prioritized product backlogs for AutoTune and related products
- Write detailed user stories with clear, testable acceptance criteria that engineers love
- Participate in scrum events as a core team member and lead work prioritization during sprint planning and backlog refinement
- Make sprint-level prioritization decisions within the strategic framework set by product leadership
- Partner closely with engineering leads to evaluate technical feasibility, manage technical debt, and make informed trade-offs between new features and refactoring or stability work
- Unblock developers continuously—clarify requirements, answer questions, make tactical trade-offs
- Support QE team’s definition of test cases and acceptance testing approaches
- Conduct user interviews to validate assumptions and uncover workflow pain points
- Use product analytics and usage data to inform prioritization decisions
- Analyze competitive landscape, including emerging AI vocal tools
- Synthesize user feedback from support tickets, community forums, and surveys
- Partner with Design to prototype and validate user-centric features before engineering handoff
- Write, maintain, and present PRDs and MRDs
- Translate complex technical capabilities into user-facing benefits
- Be the voice of the user and product in engineering discussions
- Document decisions, trade-offs, and rationale for future reference
- Communicate progress and blockers clearly to cross-functional stakeholders
Requirements
- 4-5+ years of product management or product owner experience in software development environments (though not necessarily music tech)
- Exceptional Agile/scrum product ownership skills
- Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle
- Excellence at writing user stories and acceptance criteria
- Strong collaboration skills with engineering teams
- Design thinking and user-centered design experience
- Genuine passion for music software
- Proficiency with a major DAW and understanding music production workflows
- Scrum Product Owner certification (CSPO or equivalent) preferred
- Background in consumer software, SaaS, or creative tools (Adobe, Figma, Notion, etc.) preferred
- Experience with user research methodologies beyond interviews (surveys, usability testing, analytics) preferred
- Competency & fluency with AI tools to improve product management workflows preferred
- Technical background or ability to understand DSP concepts at a high level preferred
- Personal creative experience producing music or using vocal processing tools preferred
- Active participation in music production communities (Reddit, Discord, forums) preferred
- Experience working with subscription business models preferred
- Empathy for those with the fear of singing (we test our own software!)
