About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide technical leadership, oversight, and strategic direction across Operational Technology systems used within Anglian Water’s operational environments
- Act as the primary point of contact for complex OT and process control challenges
- Support field engineers, operational teams, and stakeholders in diagnosing and resolving high-impact technical issues
- Support delivery of large capital schemes
- Ensure regulatory compliance, reduce leakage and pollution events, and uphold service resilience across critical infrastructure
- Align project deliverables and outcomes with AM 8 goals, ODIs, I2S, energy efficiencies, and OPEX savings
- Undertake technical risk assessments for existing automation control systems and industrial control networks
- Create high-level customer requirements documents (IRDS), detailed Functional Design Specifications (FDS), and system architectures
- Work with capital delivery partners and third-party suppliers to test and approve new hardware before installation
- Review and sign off third-party technical documentation and designs for Automation and SCADA capital delivery projects
- Support and facilitate proof-of-concepts and trials of new Automation/SCADA hardware, technology, and systems
- Undertake on-site commissioning and service integration for PLC/SCADA systems and industrial control networks
Requirements
What you’ll need- Extensive industry experience engineering, implementing, and maintaining OT process control, SCADA, PLC, and industrial networks
- Technical expertise in telemetry outstations, PLCs, SCADA, HMIs, and associated networking infrastructure
- Ability to apply available and emerging OT engineering technologies to deliver robust, reliable, commissionable, operable, and maintainable assets in a regulatory environment
- Extensive knowledge and experience of OT discipline, processes, concepts, and best practice
- Proven troubleshooting skills and methodical problem-solving approach
- Ability to write clear, concise, accurate engineering and design specifications with measurable outputs
- Strong motivation and coaching skills
- Excellent communication skills and ability to challenge and collaborate constructively at all levels
- Full driving licence
- Right to work in the UK
- Successful completion of employment checks, including references, driving licence, and identity check
