About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead the treatment and supply of drinking water to approximately 2 million customers
  • Drive operational excellence across water treatment, distribution, maintenance and reservoir management activities
  • Deliver financial performance against a significant operational budget while supporting capital investment programmes
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, environmental and water quality standards
  • Lead the response to operational incidents and ensure excellent service recovery for customers
  • Build strong relationships with customers, regulators, contractors and key stakeholders
  • Drive continuous improvement, operational efficiency and strategic change programmes
  • Develop future leaders through coaching, mentoring and succession planning
  • Report to the Head of Production for Ruthamford
  • Take overall responsibility for operational performance across regional water treatment and distribution activities
  • Lead a team of around 150 people

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Proven operational leader with extensive experience in water, utilities, engineering or another highly regulated, asset-intensive environment
  • Significant experience in a senior operational management role
  • Strong knowledge of water operations, water management and regulatory compliance
  • Outstanding leadership and people management capability
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong commercial and financial awareness
  • Ability to think strategically while delivering operational results
  • Proactive, adaptable and forward-thinking approach to leadership
  • Degree-level qualification and relevant professional accreditation would be advantageous
