About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide tactical leadership, operational expertise, and coaching support to Supply Managers and operational teams across the region
  • Drive health, safety, wellbeing, and process safety excellence across operational teams
  • Support the performance, maintenance, and optimisation of water treatment, storage, and distribution assets
  • Lead operational improvements that enhance customer service, resilience, and environmental performance
  • Coach and develop Supply Managers to build high-performing teams
  • Support delivery of financial and operational targets across a multi-million-pound operational budget
  • Work closely with stakeholders across Water Quality, Networks, Asset Management, and Capital Delivery teams
  • Manage major incidents and provide leadership during operational challenges
  • Shape and deliver elements of Water Supply's long-term strategy and investment plans

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Extensive experience within water treatment, water recycling, utilities, engineering, or a similar asset-intensive environment
  • Significant leadership experience managing technical and operational teams
  • Deep expertise in water treatment operations, maintenance, and asset management
  • Strong understanding of engineering, MEICA, and operational risk management
  • Experience influencing stakeholders across multiple business functions
  • Proactive and collaborative leadership style
  • Excellent coaching, communication, and relationship-building skills
  • Strong commercial awareness and experience supporting budget management
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with operational delivery
