Key responsibilities & impact

Lead platform strategy and delivery by defining and managing the hybrid infrastructure roadmap
Balance in-house and managed service capabilities
Embed automation-first and resilient design
Develop outcome-focused relationships with Architecture, Security and Product teams and strategic technology partners
Oversee Site Reliability Engineering, uptime, performance and proactive observability
Reduce operational risk and toil and enable self-healing platforms
Lead, coach and develop high-performing teams
Build capability across the function
Drive DevOps, automation and modern cloud engineering practices
Identify opportunities to reduce cost and complexity
Foster a culture of learning, experimentation and safe challenge
Shape Anglian Water’s digital infrastructure across platforms and networks

Requirements

What you’ll need

Experience leading platform, infrastructure or cloud engineering teams
Experience managing engineering managers
Strong understanding of hybrid infrastructure, cloud technologies and modern engineering practices
Experience improving operational resilience and service reliability
Knowledge of DevOps, SRE and IaC principles
Experienced engineering leader comfortable balancing strategic thinking with operational delivery
Ability to influence across technical and business-focused teams
Relevant professional certifications such as Azure, AWS, ITIL or SRE desirable
Degree in a technology or computing discipline desirable
