About the role
- Junior Transportation Engineer assigned to Charleston, SC team working under supervision of a Professional Engineer.
- Work on road corridor improvement, bridge replacement, and bike & pedestrian improvement projects in South Carolina and the Southeast US.
- Collection of data, existing condition and alternative analysis evaluation for engineering reports.
- Development of horizontal and vertical alignments; performing cross section and superelevation design.
- Roadside barrier design and ADA curb ramp design.
- Roadway modeling; sidewalk and shared-use path design.
- Design support for erosion and sediment control plans, stormwater management plans, right of way plans, utility relocation plans, permit application drawings, and traffic-related plans.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2+ years of Transportation Design experience with emphasis on roadway design.
- Previous experience with SCDOT plan production and calculation of quantities is preferred
- EIT Certification or ability to obtain within 6 months is required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience producing high quality plans, maps and 3D models.
- Experience with MicroStation / GEOPAK w/ corridor modeling is preferred.
- Experience with Open Roads Designer (ORD) is preferred.
- Technically sound, enjoy working in a team environment and have a passion for transportation engineering.
