About the role
- Lead multi-product rare disease product portfolio and aligned team to deliver financial, strategic and tactical objectives
- Develop and implement US commercial strategic and operating plans; convey clear vision to stakeholders
- Translate market changes and data into executable business and marketing plans, anticipating and reacting to competitive landscape
- Provide leadership in selection, expansion, motivation and retention of a high-performing Marketing organization; mentor and coach direct reports
- Manage the US brand planning process, including brand optimization, launch readiness, budget planning and quarterly business reviews (QBRs)
- Build and manage resources including annual objectives, budgets and agency management
- Steer strategy and execution of marketing and branding activities; ensure coordination and consistency of brand positioning, messaging and differentiation globally
- Establish strong relationships and collaborative joint ventures with key stakeholders to create global advocacy
- Ensure marketing activities comply with internal policies, industry codes (e.g., PhRMA, EFPIA) and applicable laws and regulations
- Partner with Legal, Compliance, and Regulatory teams to proactively identify, assess and mitigate risks associated with marketing campaigns, product launches and stakeholder engagement
- Serve as a key member of the US Leadership Team and work closely with Sales, Commercial Strategy and Operations, Market Access, Patient Experience and global marketing to align priorities and support the sales force
Requirements
- An undergraduate degree in business or a related discipline
- A minimum of 10 years of Pharma/Biotech marketing experience with substantial launch experience at a senior level
- Sales experience is a plus
- Experience in small and/or mid-sized companies is strongly preferred
- Commercial leadership expertise within specialty, orphan or rare disease products
- Commitment to working closely with the patient community
- Record of accomplishment in brand marketing, product management and successful global product launch
- Robust analytical skills and strategic business acumen
- Outstanding leadership and people management skills (recruiting, developing, retaining, motivating cross-functional teams)
- Entrepreneurial mindset with bias for action and ability to manage multiple deadlines
- Strong verbal, written and storytelling/narrative skills
- Strong interpersonal, diplomacy and presentation skills; ability to influence stakeholders
- Proven critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Thorough knowledge of the legal and regulatory environment relevant to pharmaceutical marketing
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally
