About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide direct nursing care and clinical support within a Primary Care clinic setting at the Dayton VA Medical Center.
- Work alongside physicians, advanced practice providers, and interdisciplinary healthcare professionals.
- Coordinate patient care, support chronic disease management initiatives, and ensure Veterans receive exceptional healthcare services.
- Perform a full range of receptionist, scheduling, and customer service duties.
- Maintain appointment schedules for clinics, providers, and healthcare teams.
- Coordinate patient appointments, referrals, consultations, and follow-up visits.
- Assist with clinic access management and contingency planning.
- Serve as a primary administrative liaison between Veterans and healthcare providers.
- Manage administrative tasks from initiation through completion, ensuring timely follow-up.
- Verify patient identity using approved VA procedures.
- Update and validate patient demographic information.
- Explain insurance collection requirements and assist with insurance documentation.
- Collect, scan, and update insurance information within applicable systems.
- Support revenue cycle activities through accurate documentation and data collection.
- Operate office equipment and utilize electronic scheduling and healthcare systems.
- Coordinate communication between VA providers, community care partners, specialists, and healthcare facilities.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and ensure compliance with privacy regulations.
- Support clinic workflow, patient access, and care coordination initiatives.
- Deliver exceptional customer service to Veterans, families, and healthcare staff.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum of two (2) years of medical administrative experience in a healthcare office, clinic, hospital, or medical support environment
- Strong computer skills and ability to learn VA information systems
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary healthcare team
- Ability to successfully complete the AMI credentialing process
