Key responsibilities & impact

Develop new fraud prevention control strategies using compromise intelligence
Minimize unprofitable fraud-related disruptions, with specific focus on fraud strategy controls
Conceptualize and implement new data features to reduce approved fraud
Address emerging fraud trends and monitor key metrics to take corrective actions
Provide thought leadership to find new ways of detecting compromise
Integrate new data sources to improve compromise detection methods
Partner with Product, Technology, Servicing, and Information Security teams
Lead data science research for compromise data attributes

Requirements

What you’ll need

Undergraduate or Master’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or Computer Science
Experience with data processing tools such as R, SQL, or Python
Understanding of statistical techniques related to data analysis and correlation
Ability to manage multiple requests and changing priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Proven track record of working proactively and independently to solve problems and drive results
Strong presentation skills to convey data and fraud insights to different stakeholders
Ability to build collaborative, trusting relationships
Strong project management and communication skills to work effectively in a team environment
Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the United States; the company will not pursue visa sponsorship
Preferred: knowledge of machine learning algorithms
Preferred: working knowledge of the fraud landscape and emerging fraud trends in the card space
Preferred: understanding of payment products, emerging technologies, and competitive landscape
