Key responsibilities & impact

Own and manage the product backlog across one or more teams.
Translate product direction into epics, features, and user stories with clear, testable acceptance criteria.
Maintain a ready backlog supporting uninterrupted execution and predictable delivery.
Standardize how work is defined and delivered across encryption services.
Liaise between engineering teams, stakeholders, and leadership.
Clarify requirements, communicate progress, risks, dependencies, and trade-offs.
Lead and participate in Agile ceremonies, including planning, refinement, stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
Provide clarification and decision-making support during sprints.
Ensure completed work meets acceptance criteria and quality standards.
Identify and remove blockers.
Prioritize backlog items to improve delivery efficiency, platform scalability, and user experience.
Balance short-term delivery with long-term platform health and extensibility.
Make data-driven trade-offs across scope, timeline, and quality.
Drive continuous improvement in delivery processes, backlog quality, and execution discipline.
Improve the usability, scalability, and extensibility of the Data Security Services Portal for AI-driven interactions and integrations.
Incorporate AI capabilities into the portal to improve usability, automate workflows, and enable intelligent, secure interactions.
Measure and communicate AI adoption impact using productivity, quality, and customer outcome metrics.
Partner with engineering on secure, scalable AI integration.
Establish responsible AI best practices.
Evaluate emerging AI capabilities and recommend practical business applications.
Champion AI adoption across the product organization.

Requirements

What you’ll need

5+ years of Product Owner or execution-focused delivery experience.
7+ years working with Agile/Scrum teams in a fast-paced development environment.
Experience driving execution discipline across multiple teams and improving delivery predictability and consistency.
Experience managing backlogs and delivering software products end-to-end.
Experience owning complex, multi-team backlogs with measurable delivery outcomes and reduced fragmentation.
Ability to engage engineering teams on technical requirements, dependencies, constraints, scalability, and implementation consistency.
Experience supporting multiple Scrum teams simultaneously (strongly preferred).
Ability to break down large initiatives into incremental, testable, deliverable user stories.
Ability to lead backlog refinement sessions, stakeholder discussions, and decision-making meetings.
Product mindset connecting business value, user needs, and technical execution.
Excellent communication, prioritization, and stakeholder management skills.
Strong analytical thinking and data-driven decision-making ability.
Demonstrated experience using Generative AI tools such as ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, Microsoft Copilot, Claude, Gemini, or similar.
Strong understanding of AI, Generative AI, Agentic AI, and Large Language Model concepts, including governance and secure enterprise adoption.
Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or Information Technology, or equivalent technical experience.
Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or equivalent certification (preferred).
Experience with scaled Agile environments such as SAFe (preferred).
Experience leading AI adoption initiatives and defining AI-powered product capabilities (preferred).
Familiarity with responsible AI, model governance, prompt engineering, secure AI implementation, encryption, tokenization, enterprise security platforms, regulated environments, and programming languages such as Java and ReactJS (preferred).
Must be eligible to work for American Express in the United States; visa sponsorship will not be pursued.
