About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Create and refresh Critical Business Functions (CBS) dependency mapping, ensuring alignment between Operational Resiliency and Business Continuity Management, where applicable
  • Plan and facilitate CBS scenario testing and resilience exercises, including severe but plausible scenarios outside of cybersecurity
  • Document testing outcomes and track remediation issues from identification through closure
  • Create Operational Resiliency documentation aligned with the E-21 guideline, including compliance guidance, procedures, processes, and plans
  • Ensure annual reviews and refreshes of Operational Resiliency documentation
  • Provide updates to Senior Leaders, Risk Committees, and relevant stakeholders on program activities and enhancement opportunities
  • Develop and maintain cross-market relationships as a 1LOD Operational Resilience partner and SME
  • Facilitate collaboration among international teams, advance program maturity, and enhance the control environment and governance framework

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 3+ years of experience in operational risk management
  • Experience in operational resilience or business continuity
  • Hands-on experience with CBS mapping, tolerance setting, scenario testing, and incident management
  • Strong planning, organizational, coordination, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience in process governance and establishing and overseeing robust decision-making processes aligned with policies, regulatory frameworks, and/or operational standards
  • Proficient analytical and problem-solving skills, including analyzing data, identifying trends, and evaluating risk scenarios effectively
  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Risk Management, or related field is preferred
  • Advanced degrees (e.g., MBA, MSc) or certifications are advantageous
  • Exposure to E21 or operational resilience regulatory frameworks is preferred
  • Experience within the financial services industry is preferred
  • Experience supporting subject matter experts in sharing expertise on specialized risks is preferred
  • Experience facilitating activities to comply with enterprise policies and programs for specific risk types is preferred
  • Experience advising on specialized risk types and integrating them into broader operational risk policies and programs is preferred
  • Employment eligibility to work with American Express is required; the company will not pursue visa sponsorship
