About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop and implement an audit coverage strategy for Gen AI aligned with organizational goals
  • Lead specialized core audits assessing Gen AI governance, risk management frameworks, and supporting controls
  • Assess controls supporting the ideation, development, deployment, and monitoring of Gen AI use cases
  • Educate and advise the Internal Audit Group on approaches for assessing Gen AI risks
  • Challenge Gen AI developers, users, and risk management groups to ensure risks are properly identified and documented
  • Identify bias, ethical, privacy, data governance, technology, reputational, strategic, and compliance risks associated with Gen AI
  • Collaborate with technology, risk, privacy, legal, and other stakeholders to create and implement audit plans
  • Oversee planning, execution, reporting, advisory reviews, and monitoring activities for assigned audit engagements
  • Assess control effectiveness and deliver high-quality audit findings
  • Coach, instruct, mentor, and develop junior colleagues and co-sourcing personnel

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum a master’s degree in Computer Science, Financial Engineering, or Statistics
  • 8+ years of relevant work experience in the financial industry, preferably banking
  • Strong managerial, written and verbal communication, analytical, problem-solving, lateral thinking, and interpersonal skills
  • Experience developing, validating, or auditing AI/ML models
  • Experience with regulatory interaction
  • Understanding of local and globally significant regulatory requirements pertaining to AI/Gen AI
  • Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the United States required; the company will not pursue visa sponsorship
