About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Prepare regulatory filings and supporting documentation/schedules.
  • Ensure report compliance with Federal Reserve and other regulatory reporting requirements, internal review procedures, and applicable policies.
  • Support projects transforming regulatory report preparation, including automation and simplification.
  • Support Managers and Director in responding to Federal Reserve, General Counsel’s Office, and other regulatory inquiries.
  • Support implementation of analytical and reporting processes, procedures, and systems using the Company’s control framework.
  • Coordinate with Subject Matter Experts and Global Reporting leaders.
  • Display thought leadership and support work/life balance initiatives.
  • Prepare quarterly/monthly filings reporting financial and non-financial information for American Express and subsidiary legal entities.
  • Apply problem-solving, planning, analytical, project-management, collaboration, and coordination skills to drive continuous improvement and innovation.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance-related fields along with experience in Accounting/Reporting
  • Strong proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, including conveying complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders, senior leaders, and regulators
  • Ability to translate ideas into analyses with measurable business impact and demonstrate thought leadership that informs decision-making
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, with strong follow-up and attention to detail, in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and compliance
  • Self-driven, team player with analytical skills and an inclination for process improvement
  • Understanding of the financial domain and AXP systems
  • Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the United States; the company will not pursue visa sponsorship
  • Prior U.S. regulatory/SEC reporting or public accounting experience is a plus
  • Master’s degree in Finance or accounting and CPA are preferred
  • Regulatory/external reporting experience is preferable
  • Exposure to liquidity reporting, NSFR, or LCR is a plus
