About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Monitor application and infrastructure health using enterprise monitoring and observability tools
- Configure and maintain alerting mechanisms for timely incident detection and response
- Develop and maintain dashboards showing system performance, availability, and key metrics
- Analyze metrics, logs, and traces to identify issues and support root cause analysis
- Participate in Disaster Recovery planning, testing, and execution
- Perform system patching and maintenance according to security and compliance standards
- Support ITIL-based change management, including planning, documentation, approvals, and validation
- Monitor network performance and troubleshoot connectivity issues
- Participate in SSL/TLS certificate provisioning, renewal, and troubleshooting
- Manage service accounts, including access provisioning, rotation, and compliance
- Maintain system documentation, runbooks, SOPs, troubleshooting steps, and performance or incident reports
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, and/or comparable experience
- Minimum of 4+ years of relevant experience in application development, maintenance, and production support
- Hands-on exposure to Java and distributed systems in enterprise environments
- Proficiency in Core Java, Spring Boot, and RESTful API development
- Understanding of object-oriented programming and service-oriented architecture
- Experience with production support, incident management, problem resolution, and root cause analysis
- Strong SQL development and data handling experience with large-scale relational datasets
- Exposure to MySQL, PostgreSQL, Cassandra, and Couchbase
- Understanding of system utilities, dataset management, file processing, and job lifecycle management
- Experience in application debugging, performance tuning, and system optimization
- Familiarity with SDLC methodologies, including Agile and/or Waterfall
- Experience with distributed system design, scalability, resilience, and performance optimization
- Familiarity with modernization initiatives integrating mainframe and distributed/cloud-based systems
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and Git
- Exposure to AWS, Azure, or GCP and Docker or Kubernetes
- Understanding of monitoring, logging, and observability tools including ELK, Dynatrace, and BigPanda
- Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the United States; visa sponsorship will not be pursued
