About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support implementation of the new Reliance Model
- Oversee execution of the Reliance Model Questionnaire and ensure business-unit adherence to minimum standards
- Require annual attestations of program compliance and business-unit regulatory subject-matter expertise
- Confirm that business-unit governance processes are formally documented
- Provide ongoing reporting to maintain Corporate Function awareness of regulatory change management activities
- Perform additional responsibilities based on team needs
Requirements
What you’ll need- 4+ years of experience in compliance, legal, regulatory advisory, or a related role within financial services is preferred
- Demonstrated ability to interpret regulatory requirements and advise business stakeholders on compliance risks, processes, and controls
- Strong program and project management experience, including governance, change management, stakeholder engagement, execution tracking, and executive reporting
- Experience designing and implementing governance frameworks, operating models, or compliance programs in complex or evolving environments
- Strong understanding of policy, regulatory, and operational risk management requirements and the three lines of defense model
- Proven relationship management, communication, analytical, and decision-making skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all organizational levels
- Ability to independently manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt in a dynamic, ambiguous, and high-pressure environment
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the United States is required; the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions
