About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead risk and control-related GMNS Product Governance activities, including New Product Approval, Product Lifecycle Governance, and ongoing governance execution in partnership with Product teams, Product Growth, Control Management, Compliance, Risk, GCO, Technology, and other stakeholders
  • Own and maintain the GMNS Product Inventory, including inventory refreshes, taxonomy management, periodic reviews, governance reporting, and overall data quality to support transparency and effective oversight
  • Establish management reporting, governance insights, executive communications, and leadership materials that provide visibility into product governance priorities, inventory health, and key organizational initiatives
  • Develop and enhance governance processes, standards, and operating procedures that enable scalable, efficient, and sustainable product oversight
  • Partner with Control Management and other stakeholders to support broader risk, governance, and business management programs, as needed
  • Support governance-related initiatives, issue resolution efforts, remediation activities, and other operational priorities, as needed
  • Assist with audits, exams, policy implementation efforts, regulatory change initiatives, and other cross-functional activities impacting the GMNS Product organization, as needed

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Significant experience in Product Governance, Product Operations, Business Operations, Risk Management, Control Management, or related disciplines
  • Strong understanding of product lifecycle management, governance frameworks, operational processes, and risk management practices
  • Experience leading complex cross-functional initiatives and partnering across Product, Technology, Risk, Compliance, Control Management, Operations, Audit, and other business functions
  • Strong execution and process-management skills with the ability to bring structure to ambiguity, manage competing priorities, and deliver high-quality outcomes
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and executive communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and drive alignment across diverse teams
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, coupled with sound judgment, attention to detail, and a focus on data quality and operational excellence
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the United States is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions.
