About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Verify financial data in NetSuite for legitimacy, accuracy and allowability of charges
- Create financial performance reports using data from our systems for multiple grants from Federal, State and other bodies
- Rely on knowledge of and experience with 2 CFR 200 Federal Grant rules and regulations
- Evaluate data from a wide range of ABC systems to resolve discrepancies, gain insight and make forecasts and recommendations
- Apply donor restrictions to funding to ensure compliance and track funding release when funds received upfront
- Review and analyze financial performance v budgetary line items for material deviation
- Use knowledge gained to guide overall strategy and tactics to support ABC’s goals and objectives
- Work with Program and development teams to understand financial performance and understand key trends
- Explain trends and factors that drive variances
- Assist with using such insight to shape programmatic strategy
- Prepare and submit Financial Reports for federal, other governmental, and privately sponsored projects
- Create invoices to be sent to donors
- Manage various processes for receipt of funds from donors
- Ensure compliance with all federal and state grant regulations
- Coordinate across divisions and review submitted documents and submission of timely reports in accordance with sponsor financial reporting specifications
- Manage timelines, deliverables and requests in order to stay in compliance with financial reporting requirements
- Use judgement and deep knowledge of applicable regulations to support ABC objectives within the framework of required reporting
- Review critical award information set up in the financial system
- Identify areas of information that need to be updated and modified
- Develop a level of technical expertise of ABC systems that leads to an understanding of the level of effort required to make these changes
- Monitor subawards and the financial performance of partners
- Ensure payments are made in accordance with agreement
- Assist with external audit reviews and provide financial and project information for awards within assigned areas
- Rely on knowledge of audit procedures to review and compile data for audit requests
- Understand both financial statement audit and Uniform Guidance audit regulations and requirements
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business or related field
- At least five years of work experience in finance and grants management
- Experience extracting data from accounting ledgers
- Experience managing financial reporting for grants and contracts
- Knowledge of measuring financial performance with Actual v Budget monitoring
- Knowledge of federal and non-federal regulations, Uniform guidance, agreement types, and the terms and conditions of sub-awards is an advantage
- Proficiency with all Microsoft Office programs
- Above average understanding of Microsoft Excel with the ability to create simple, effective spreadsheets
- Ability to work independently, efficiently, accurately, and within deadlines
- Ability to work with a wide range of people at all levels
- Good organizational, communication and administrative skills
