About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Experience with Mechanical Design & Pumping Systems
- Design and develop pumping stations, including mechanical layouts and equipment selection
- Specify and size pumps, pipework systems, valves, and associated mechanical equipment
- Produce detailed design calculations, technical drawings, and specifications
- Ensure designs meet performance, reliability, and maintainability requirements
- Apply relevant water industry standards, including WIMES
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations
- Support design reviews and ensure alignment with project and client requirements
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including civil, electrical, and process engineers
- Support project phases including design, procurement, installation, and commissioning
- Liaise with suppliers and contractors to ensure technical compliance and quality
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, cost, and sustainability of mechanical systems
- Contribute to continuous improvement in design methods and engineering practices
- Support the integration of new technologies within water infrastructure projects
Requirements
What you’ll need- Strong experience in mechanical design within the water or utilities sector
- Proven experience designing pumping stations, pumps, and piping systems
- Understanding of mechanical principles, fluid systems, and hydraulic calculations
- Familiarity with WIMES standards and water industry practices
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical or equivalent military experience
