Senior Body Design and Release Engineer
Alten MéxicoBody Design & Release Engineer at ALTEN Mexico specializing in automotive engineering design and production release. Managing automotive component design from concept through to production.
About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Responsible for the engineering, design, development, timing and production release for some of the following functions: Body-in-white / Body closure sheet metal and hinging / Fascia/bumper / Underbody shield and Wheel liners / Cladding & flares / Body exterior (moldings, badges, decals and vents) / Front Lighting / EE & Signal Lighting / Fixed Glass/ Wipers /Fuel Door components /systems from initial design concept through full volume production.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- 5-8 yrs of engineering automotive component experience designing and developing on the following: Body in White, Closures, or Exterior Systems
- CAD experience with Unigraphics NX, Catia V5 and Teamcenter in a production release environment BIW (Body in White)
- Knowledgeable regarding high strength steels/ aluminum forming processes, weld parameters and GD&T
- Experience with OEM or supplier on design and release
- Experience/knowledge with Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (DFMEA) and Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R) and validation plans
- BoM’s creation and edition
- Knowledge and experience with composites and composite production processes
- Release experience in both Mechanical and electrical components
- Working knowledge of designing for EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility) and ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) design/prevention
- Prior exposure to automotive lighting specifications and standards an asset; electronics specifications
- Experience with Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) and/or Reactive Green/Black Belt
- BIW in-plant launch experience
- Experience designing and developing injection molding, painting, and decorating plastic Class A components
- CAE/Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) knowledge
- Experience leading technical teams successfully across varied levels of management and between OEM and supply base
- Experience regularly presenting to upper management for issue resolution decisions
- Knowledge or experience of CAN/LIN bus and circuit analysis
- Excellent MS Office skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook)
- CATIA V5 knowledge is a plus
- Knowledge of Casting and Injection Molding processes is a plus
- Possibility of traveling, valid passport, and visa preferable
