About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead the sourcing, development, and delivery of store experiences across a range of formats including owned ALSO showrooms, pop-up retail environments, shop in shop in strategic partner stores and showrooms, mobile pop up for events and auxiliary commercial capacity, and POP/display in partner retail designed to boost brand awareness.
  • Collaborate with internal commercial and creative teams and external architecture firms to develop and apply scalable design packages that maintain brand integrity.
  • Manage the design, vendor selection, fabrication, and deployment of all proprietary retail fixtures, visual merchandising elements, and operational equipment (FF&E) across the network.
  • Develop ALSO’s visual merchandising approach for product and create scalable processes to apply across various retail formats.
  • Manage the capital expenditure budget for all retail-specific projects, ensuring store fit-outs are delivered on time and within approved cost targets.
  • Support site selection due diligence by providing retail requirements and design input for lease negotiations.
  • Select, onboard, and manage retail specialty vendors (e.g., millworkers, installation teams, AV integrators). Coordinate the retail construction timeline with the Director of Real Estate and general contractors.
  • Coordinate with the Field Sales Operations team to establish operational readiness, inventory delivery, and final store set-up prior to store handover.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in retail store development for a national or global consumer brand.
  • Experience with multiple retail formats, including full-scale tenant improvements and shop-in-shop/display concepts.
  • Deep knowledge of the retail fit-out process, including design development, value engineering, permitting, and construction administration.
  • Exceptional project management skills, with a focus on timeline adherence and CapEx budget control.
  • Experience managing complex vendor relationships (designers, fixture fabricators) and demanding quality standards.
  • Willingness to travel (30-40%) for site visits, construction walk-throughs, and vendor management.
  • A passion for small EVs, experiential retail, and creating memorable physical consumer journeys.
