About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide help with all aspects of patient care, including diagnosis, treatments and consultations, as part of a Physician/Advanced Practice Provider team
  • Work in both inpatient and outpatient situations
  • Serve as an educator, case manager and consultant to staff and the multidisciplinary health care team
  • Provide clinical care for patients
  • Complete comprehensive patient assessments
  • Determine diagnosis and treatment of illness
  • Order and interpret medical diagnostics with the attending physician
  • Prescribe medications, treatments, therapy and medical equipment
  • Conduct patient education for chronic illness management or wellness care
  • Refer patients for specialty care when determined
  • Consult with physicians when needs fall outside scope of practice or the diagnosis/treatment plan is unclear
  • Promote communication within the team and with interdisciplinary health care staff
  • Act as a resource to team members
  • Work with the primary care team on program development
  • Act as liaison with outside agencies as needed
  • Consult and round on patients with hospital staff when designated by the specialty
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Master's degree - Completion of accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
  • Licensed Physician Assistant or Licensed Nurse Practitioner - MN Board of Medical Practice required upon hire
  • ACLS-BLS Tier 2 - Multisource required within 180 days
  • Certification as Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner - NCCPA required upon hire
  • Drug Enforcement Administration registration required upon hire
  • New graduates may be considered
  • Minimum 2 years experience in cardiology or ICU is preferred
  • Ability to provide care in inpatient and outpatient situations
  • Ability to perform independently or as part of a treatment team
  • Physical ability to lift up to 32 lbs. occasionally and up to 25 lbs. frequently
  • Must complete employment eligibility verification in the United States
