About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Greet and welcome patients in person
  • Collect demographic, insurance, and financial information
  • Check in or interview patients and complete appropriate paperwork
  • Direct patients to appointments or procedures
  • Assist with scheduling add-on appointments
  • Verify payer eligibility and benefits information and interpret results
  • Obtain patient signatures as needed
  • Collect co-pays or deductibles and answer questions about available financial programs
  • Refer complex questions as needed
  • Use resources, tools, and procedures to complete accounts in assigned work queues
  • Assist patients with request-for-information forms and submit them to the appropriate department
  • Gather medical record information from departments for collection
  • Mentor new staff as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Must be 16 years of age
  • Education and/or experience needed to meet required functional competencies as listed on the job description
  • 0 to 2 years of experience using a computer, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • 0 to 2 years of customer service experience preferred
  • 0 to 2 years of general office experience preferred
  • 0 to 2 years of knowledge of revenue cycle and health care insurance components preferred
  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs. occasionally and up to 10 lbs. frequently
  • Employment eligibility verification required for work in the United States
