About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Financial reporting leadership: Take responsibility for monthly, quarterly and annual closings, and for preparing the financial statements.
Project accounting and budgeting: Coordinate and analyze the financial forecasting and budgeting process (OpEx and CapEx).
Allocate, track and substantiate costs by project (essential to our subsidized bioproduction environment).
Treasury management in an agile environment: Ensure rigorous, proactive cash management.
Analyze liquidity needs, build forecast scenarios and recommend actions to optimize cash flow.
Tax credits and taxation: Support the collection, organization and documentation of financial information required to maximize SR&ED (R&D tax credits) claims and government grant applications.
Fixed assets and internal controls: Maintain fixed asset registers (capitalized projects) and implement internal control procedures to mitigate financial risks.
Payroll governance: Oversee compliance and accuracy of the full payroll and benefits cycle (in coordination with internal and external partners).
Value creation: Assess financial performance, optimize internal processes and lead special growth projects.

Requirements

What you’ll need

Certification: CPA designation (strongly preferred) OR equivalent senior-level experience (10+ years).
Required experience: Minimum 5 years post-CPA, or 10+ years if not designated, in a controllership, corporate accounting or finance manager role.
Technical strengths: Advanced Excel proficiency. Experience with project accounting or SR&ED tax credits is a major asset.
Cultural fit: High tolerance for ambiguity, calm and rational approach to cash-flow management, and a strong desire to have a tangible business impact.
Languages: Bilingualism (French/English) — an asset for interacting with external partners.
