About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Assist with vessel operations and maintenance
Handle lines during docking and undocking
Operate deck equipment such as winches, cranes, capstans, or pumps
Load and unload cargo, supplies, or equipment
Stand watch and assist with navigation/lookout duties
Follow safety procedures and participate in drills
Support emergency response activities
Deploy on a vessel conducting hydrographic survey operations in New England
Maintain a 12-hour daily watch during offshore 12-hour or 24-hour operations

Requirements

What you’ll need

High school diploma or GED (often preferred)
Current STCW Basic Safety Training (BST), GWO, or BOSIET training
Current CPR/First Aid certification
Physician certification of fitness for sea duty
Not susceptible to chronic motion sickness
Ability to live in confined quarters
Ability to tolerate stress
Ability to lift objects up to 30 pounds
Ability to vigilantly monitor surrounding waters for up to 4 hours at a time and no more than 12 hours in a 24-hour period
Proof of eligibility to work within the US
Previous marine, construction, labor, or offshore experience preferred
Ability to work long hours in varying weather and sea conditions
Physical capability to lift heavy equipment and perform manual labor
Basic mechanical aptitude
