About the role
- Strategic Advisory: Guide company and product strategy through advanced data exploration, decision science, and the development of sophisticated business metrics.
- Technical Mentorship: Model best practices in data modelling, governance, SQL, reporting and analysis to raise the quality of work across the team.
- Experimentation Leadership: Drive a mature experimentation culture by guiding experiment design, monitoring, and result interpretation.
- Insight Delivery: Ensure business teams have access to relevant, timely, and actionable reporting tools to facilitate high quality decision-making.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with senior product, marketing, and C-level leaders to design data-informed strategies.
- Technical Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with technical peers in Analytics Engineering and Software Engineering to resolve complex data challenges.
- Data Advocacy: Educate and evangelise the role of decision science across Airtasker, ensuring team members understand the data lifecycle and how it creates value.
Requirements
- Technical Proficiency: Mastery of relational databases, SQL, and data modelling (dbt experience is highly advantageous).
- Analytical Rigour: Advanced mathematical and statistical reasoning, including an understanding of common data science algorithms and experimentation methodologies.
- Data Storytelling: Exceptional ability to simplify complex data into accessible, compelling narratives for senior stakeholders using advanced visualisation techniques.
- Outcome Focused: A proven ability to link quantitative data directly to customer experience and business outcomes.
- Project Management: Strong project and change management skills to navigate a fast-paced environment.
- Mentorship Driven: Passionate about educating others and proactively growing the technical capabilities of your peers.
- Decisive & Independent: Able to act independently and make sound decisions under pressure.
- Empathetic & Logical: A methodical approach balanced with the empathy required to create a safe environment for data led feedback.
- Bonus points:
- - Marketplace Experience: Previous experience with two-sided marketplace dynamics and matching models.
- - Leadership History: Prior experience as a Team Lead or Manager is highly advantageous, given the role's responsibility to guide the current team's workload and growth.
