About the role

  • Design and build immersive, interactive maps and environments using UEFN Script gameplay logic, events, and systems using Verse
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with designers, artists, and creative leads to execute on the project vision
  • Optimize assets and levels for smooth, cross-platform performance
  • Experiment with layouts, pacing, and modular workflows to support quick iteration
  • This is an Expression of Interest opportunity for freelancers, contractors, and collaborators
  • Remote candidates may be considered; however, preference will be given to those who can work in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Requirements

  • A portfolio or playable samples demonstrating proficiency in UEFN and Verse scripting
  • Experience creating polished, engaging experiences—whether narrative, competitive, social, or sandbox
  • Comfort working with both art and technical teams to troubleshoot and align visual and gameplay goals
  • Strong understanding of optimization best practices for real-time platforms
  • Passion for innovative storytelling, UGC ecosystems, and pushing boundaries in new tools
  • Experience with 3D modeling tools (Blender, Maya, etc.) is a plus
  • Familiarity with Unreal Engine 5 workflows is a plus
  • Awareness of Fortnite Creative trends and the broader UGC landscape is a plus
  • Comfort with working in a collaborative, experimental development environment
