About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead the design, layout and production of a comprehensive Operations Manual.
  • Design and format a professional, visually engaging and easy-to-navigate Operations Manual.
  • Establish and maintain a consistent visual identity, typography system, grid structure and document hierarchy throughout the manual.
  • Create templates, paragraph styles, character styles and master pages to ensure consistency and facilitate future updates.
  • Review and interpret technical stadium PDF layouts and architectural drawings.
  • Extract key operational and wayfinding information from complex plans.
  • Redesign stadium maps into simplified, intuitive and visually accessible guides for non-technical users.
  • Develop clear legends, directional markers, access routes and key points of interest to support operational use.
  • Produce a fully interactive and optimised PDF version of the Operations Manual.
  • Create a clickable Table of Contents, internal navigation links, bookmarks, cross-references and external hyperlinks where required.
  • Ensure the final PDF is suitable for both desktop and mobile viewing.
  • Maintain well-organised working files and folder structures throughout the project.
  • Apply a systematic version control process to support efficient content revisions and future updates.
  • Deliver all editable source files and linked assets upon project completion.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Active personal subscription to Adobe InDesign and relevant Adobe Creative Cloud applications, including Illustrator and Photoshop.
  • Access to personal hardware capable of supporting large-format document production and graphic design workflows.
  • Proven experience designing and formatting multi-page publications, operational manuals, technical documentation or corporate reports.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating high-quality document design and information layout.
  • Experience creating interactive PDFs and digital publications.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex architectural plans, technical drawings or venue layouts into clear, user-friendly maps and visual guides.
  • Understanding of wayfinding principles, information hierarchy and user-centred design.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Strong understanding of typography, layout design, visual hierarchy and document accessibility.
  • Ability to manage multiple revisions while maintaining consistency across large documents.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Must have sufficient freelance capacity and guaranteed availability throughout the project period (September–December 2026).
  • Available to participate in weekly remote and/or in-office progress meetings.
  • Able to meet agreed milestones and project deadlines.
  • Responsive to feedback and capable of implementing revisions within agreed turnaround times.
