About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design, develop, and maintain electrical control systems and components for economy, safety, reliability, quality, and sustainability
  • Select components and equipment based on specifications and reliability analysis
  • Conduct engineering and design of electronic systems for unmanned aircraft vehicles
  • Perform detailed design, documentation, testing, and troubleshooting of electronic and mechanical components, equipment, and subsystems
  • Provide electronic engineering support for R&D projects
  • Coordinate manufacturing, construction, installation, maintenance, support, documentation, and testing activities
  • Inspect completed installations and observe operations for design, equipment, and safety compliance
  • Work with avionics, embedded systems, and RF links; support flight test operations as needed
  • Document designs with engineering drawings and written descriptions
  • Perform design and analysis tasks and contribute to budgets and cost estimates
  • Assess root causes of critical issues and propose alternate solutions through research and re-engineering
  • Make complex design decisions to meet requirements and impact project costs and schedules
  • Provide technical supervision across disciplines and lead a small team or project
  • May supervise the activities of others

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Minimum of 8–12 years of relevant experience
  • Proficiency with office software, computer-based productivity tools, and area-specific software tools
  • Experience using Altium Designer for schematic capture and PCB layout
  • Experience in one or more of Radio Frequency (RF), embedded control, or FPGA
  • Experience with power electronics, motors, and battery technology, including lead acid, nickel metal hydride, and lithium-ion batteries
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex systems
  • Familiarity with industry protocols including LVDS, I2C, HDMI, UART, SPI, CAN, and USB
  • Knowledge of engineering fundamentals, mathematics, physics, and material properties
  • Willingness to travel up to 30% for flight test operations
  • Clean driving record
  • Ability to qualify as a U.S. person under ITAR/EAR or obtain an export license; some positions require current U.S. citizenship
  • Advanced degree preferred
  • Flight test or R/C experience and hands-on tool experience are a plus
  • Familiarity with small UAV subsystems and associated software is a plus
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Teamwork and collaboration orientation
  • Ability to work in an office and sit or stand for long periods
