About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Establish and maintain smooth operation of computer NIPR, SIPR, and Mission systems (including operating systems, software, and hardware) in networked or stand-alone configurations.
- Maintain system integrity, and perform system and server upgrades as required.
- Create and document new methods supporting network and system operations and implement changes to procedures.
- Consult with support teams, help desks, customers, and other technical staff to resolve problems.
- Coordinate and perform operational and maintenance activities for networks and servers.
- Identify recurring problems, and recommend steps to reduce the severity or frequency of issues.
- Support the transition of development and/or production environments to new technologies.
- Utilize system software to monitor system performance, manage system data to maintain operational efficiencies.
- Evaluate system requirements to determine proper server installation methods and procedures.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Must possess an active DoD SECRET clearance, or higher.
- Must have one of the following DoD 8140.03 compliant certifications CompTIA Security+, CISSP, GICSP, GSEC or SSCP or be able to obtain within 60 days of starting work.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science/information technology/system administration with 5 years of experience, or equivalent experience in lieu of degree.
- Must possess strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
- Must have proficiency in managing and troubleshooting various operating systems such as Windows, Linux, and Unix.
- Must have strong understanding of network protocols, configuration, and troubleshooting (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, etc.).
- Must have experience with server hardware, virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V), and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
- Must have knowledge of security best practices, firewalls, VPNs, and data protection.
- Must have proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python, or Bash for automating tasks.
- Must have experience with backup solutions, disaster recovery planning, and execution.
