About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Perform specific and limited portions of broader assignments under experienced engineers
Gather and correlate basic engineering data using established procedures
Complete detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests
Propose approaches to solve new problems
Identify discrepancies in results
Provide guidance to entry-level engineers
Perform work within agreed budgets and schedules under moderate supervision
Design utility-scale physical substations in the power delivery industry

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and 2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Experience with high-voltage substation design
EIT certification
Experience using AutoCAD and/or Bentley MicroStation
Professional engineering license or ability to obtain one within 2 years of hire preferred
Knowledge of construction practices and constructability preferred
Experience with proposal writing and project estimating preferred
Working knowledge of scheduling and project controls processes preferred
Knowledge of substation industry and technology trends
Familiarity with IEEE, ANSI, and NESC codes and standards
Working knowledge of MS Office, including Word and Excel
Effective verbal communication and technical writing skills
Ability to check the quality of own and others’ work
Ability to use sound engineering judgment
Ability to manage time and workload effectively
Strong familiarity with the NEC and National Electrical Safety Code
