About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Perform archaeological fieldwork under the supervision of a Crew Chief, Field Director, and/or Principal Investigator
Perform a variety of tasks supporting project staff
Gather and maintain specified records of scientific data for supervisors
Conduct environmental sampling, operations and maintenance, and inspections at client sites as needed
Assist with calculations
Set up and operate equipment
Inspect equipment and installations for compliance with specifications
Maintain proper project documentation
Collect and enter data
Apply technical principles and theories under supervision
Travel overnight for field work sessions, primarily in Oregon and Washington

Requirements

What you’ll need

High school graduation plus 4 years of relevant experience, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, with archaeological fieldwork in the PNW region
Valid driver's license with a good driving record
Ability to travel for projects, including overnight field work sessions
US Citizenship required
Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or related field
Preferred: 5+ years of experience with archaeological survey, testing, excavation, and monitoring
Preferred: Completion of an archaeological field school
Experience with geospatial technology, including GPS and GIS
Computer proficiency, including familiarity with Microsoft Office
Candidates based in Portland, OR or Seattle, WA
Flexibility for part-time, on-call workdays and times determined by project needs
