About the role

  • AECOM has a position available for a Renewable Energy Technical Lead to oversee our talented team of engineers and designers working on renewable projects across the country for the US Energy Practice.
  • Provide mentorship to other engineers within the US Energy Practice and other remote teams.
  • Support department manager in advancing the culture of technical excellence and accountability.
  • Supervise and lead a team of engineers and designers through their individual and team technical development for greater utility to the organization and overall career satisfaction.
  • Lead improvements in project efficiencies by creating, updating, and implementing group specific standards/templates.
  • Develop task and deliverable list with associated hours estimate and schedule to support business development activities as it relates to renewable and decentralized energy projects.
  • Support the department’s strategic resourcing initiatives and actively support recruiting efforts.
  • Monitor your team’s project progress to ensure quality, on-time and on-budget delivery of projects.

Requirements

  • BA/BS (Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering preferred) from ABET accredited university
  • 6+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience must include design and integration of utility-scale renewable and battery storage systems
  • Current professional engineering license (PE)
  • Minimum four (4) years of leadership/supervisory experience preferred
  • 12+ years of relevant experience preferred
  • Highly Proficient in AutoCAD, PVsyst, and Microsoft Excel desired
  • Experience with other software in the industry such as NREL SAM, ForgeSolar, Helioscope, Homer, ETAP, WindPRO
  • Capable of system financial estimation (Capex, Opex), PPA recommendation and calculating ROI
  • MV AC Collection System Design Experience
  • Special design experience: floating PV, fuel cells
  • Proficient with the NEC, as well as related codes such as IBC and NFPA 855
  • Deep knowledge of utility practices, industry codes and standards (NESC, IEEE, PIP etc.)
  • Interest in developing talented technical teams
  • Able to lead engineering tasks with strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Experience on full EPC, Design/Build projects from start to finish.
  • Field construction and commissioning experience
