About the role

  • Responsible for the mechanical engineering design work on assigned projects
  • Serve as lead engineer on all size projects maintaining responsibility for deliverable development
  • Coordination with the mechanical piping design team to direct completion of engineering drawings
  • Multi-discipline collaboration on the development of equipment general arrangements, P&ID’s, isometrics, asset and tie-in lists, orthographic, etc.
  • Provides technical expertise for risk assessments, due diligence and other studies presenting complex technical solutions to clients.
  • Generate applicable mechanical engineering deliverables to support all phases of scope development – Feasibility through Detail Design
  • Develop construction and equipment specifications and material requisitions
  • Home office support of projects during construction, start-up, and commissioning
  • Performs quality control reviews of work developed by others
  • Participate in project and client meetings
  • Interact with vendors, regulatory agencies and contractors
  • Assist with internal and external presentations
  • Occasional travel to client and/or project sites

Requirements

  • BA/BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field + 6 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Experience in Mechanical Engineering for Power Generation Facilities
  • Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering (preferred)
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license (preferred)
  • 12+ years of experience with Power Generation Facilities (preferred)
  • 5+ years of experience as project technical mechanical lead/mechanical engineer of record (preferred)
  • Experience in engineer and design of Combined Cycle Plants and Nuclear Generation Stations (preferred)
  • Expert familiarity with industry codes and standards (API, ASME, PIP, ANSI, ASTMs, etc) (preferred)
  • Expert experience with specifying mechanical equipment (e.g. rotating and static equipment) and piping material specifications (preferred)
  • Familiarity with diverse metallurgy (preferred)
  • Startup and Commissioning Field Experience (preferred)
  • Strong experience with engineering software packages: Thermoflow package, Hysys, Caesar II, Pipe-Flo (or other hydraulic modeling application), AspenTech applications and/or Applied Flow Technology applications (preferred)
  • Experience working in collaborative model environments (e.g. Navisworks, BIM 360) (preferred)
  • Demonstrated experience in participating in complex, multi-discipline programs/projects (preferred)
  • Successful experience working in remote and multi-discipline teams (preferred)
