Assigning codes to ER and Outpatient ancillary medical records using ICD-10-CM and CPT via the 3m Encoder and Dolbey Computer Assisted Coding application
Abstract the patient’s account with the assigned codes and finalize the abstract in Cerner
Review scripts for meeting Medical Necessity in the Outpatient ancillary area
Communicate to various departments when charges need added, deleted, or changed and clarify discharge dispositions and patient type/status
Encourage teamwork and collaborate within the department and with other departments to ensure accounts are coded and billed timely
Occasionally train others, act as preceptor for new employees, and have occasional contact with physicians and their office staff
Adhere to AdventHealth Corporate Compliance Plan and rules/regulations of applicable agencies
Requirements
High School Grad or Equiv Required
Certified Professional Coder (CPC)
Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) Required
Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) - Cert Required
Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) Required
Proficiency with ICD-10-CM and CPT coding
Experience using 3m Encoder and Dolbey Computer Assisted Coding application
Experience abstracting and finalizing records in Cerner
Ability to review scripts for Medical Necessity in the Outpatient ancillary area
Responsibility to adhere to AdventHealth Corporate Compliance Plan and applicable regulations
