About the role
- Assign codes to ER and Outpatient ancillary medical records using ICD-10-CM and CPT via 3M Encoder and Dolbey CAC
- Abstract the patient’s account with assigned codes and finalize the abstract in Cerner
- Review scripts for meeting Medical Necessity in the Outpatient ancillary area
- Adhere to AdventHealth Corporate Compliance Plan and applicable regulations
- Communicate with departments when charges need to be added, deleted, or changed and when discharge dispositions and patient type/status need clarification
- Occasionally train or precept new employees and collaborate with physicians and office staff as needed
Requirements
- High School Grad or Equiv Required
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC)
- Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) Required
- Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) - Cert Required
- Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) Required
- Experience with ICD-10-CM and CPT coding
- Proficiency with 3M Encoder and Dolbey Computer Assisted Coding application
- Experience finalizing abstracts in Cerner
