About the role
- Assist in the implementation of individualized treatment plans for patients under the direction of a licensed occupational therapist.
- Conduct therapeutic activities, exercises, and treatments to improve patients' functional abilities.
- Monitor and document patients' progress, making adjustments to treatment plans as necessary in consultation with the occupational therapist.
- Educate patients and their families on home exercise programs, adaptive equipment, and techniques to enhance daily living skills.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team, including nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists, and physicians, to coordinate patient care.
- Regularly participate in team meetings to discuss patient progress and adjust treatment plans as needed.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient treatments, progress notes, and billing information in accordance with facility policies and regulatory requirements.
- Assist occupational therapists with the assessment of patients’ functional abilities and limitations.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance the effectiveness of occupational therapy services.
- All other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Graduate of an occupational therapy assistant curriculum accredited by either the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) or Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE).
- Hold a valid State Certified Occupational Therapy License.
