About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Verifying patient eligibility, coordinating benefits, managing funding, and facilitating insurance coverage.
  • Addressing patients' concerns regarding authorization and turnaround timeframe.
  • Obtaining authorizations for medications and treatments involving advanced stages of cancer.
  • Calculating patient payment amount due for specialty drugs and infusion treatments.
  • Researching foundations to assist patients experiencing financial hardships.
  • Communicating with patients, nurses, and drug representatives daily.
  • Keeping up to date with pharmacy benefits and treatments available for advanced cancers.
  • Assisting in resolving issues for dispensing sites.
  • Monitoring foundation and manufacturer assistance programs to assure patients stay "active".
  • Maintaining daily follow up with outside organizations to ensure patient treatment is uninterrupted or started in a timely manner.
  • Escalating issues to management.
  • Performing other position related duties as assigned.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 2 years' in an Oncology related position required.
  • 3 years' of experience with electronic medical records preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to build relationships with patients and display empathy and compassion to patients.
  • Skill in using computer programs and applications including Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge in healthcare systems operations such as EMR.
  • Ability to work independently and manage deadlines.
  • Knowledge of Medical Insurances.
  • Complies with HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of cancer processes and treatments and experience with grants and patient assistance programs.
