About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead execution of new business and renewal processes for small/mid-market commercial insurance accounts
- Maintain placement timelines and processes, including exposure analysis, quote specifications, coverage analysis, negotiation, and proposal presentation
- Develop high-level placement strategies for complex accounts using market intelligence and carrier relationships
- Evaluate alternative risk financing mechanisms, including large deductible programs and captive structures
- Build insurance towers and conduct financial modeling and exposure analysis
- Exercise independent judgment when placing accounts with alternative carriers
- Oversee end-to-end placement processes for compliance, accuracy, and timely execution
- Lead year-end portfolio reviews and recommend strategic improvements
- Cultivate executive-level relationships with carriers and wholesalers
- Collaborate with Client Advisors and Account Service Teams on client-facing marketing strategy and placement outcomes
- Mentor Placement Specialists and Account Teams and support professional development
- Review insurance policies and contracts and recommend improvements
- Prepare property and casualty insurance submissions
- Analyze Excel exposure and loss data and develop financial models for loss-sensitive programs
- Use carrier systems and comparative rating tools for quoting and proposal development
- Perform coverage gap analysis and provide strategic recommendations
- Work independently and collaboratively on special and ongoing projects
- Identify opportunities to engage Risk Resources for specialized client solutions
Requirements
What you’ll need- 7+ years of relevant insurance experience, emphasizing large commercial account placements typically with $5,000+ premiums
- Excellent phone etiquette and written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Strong critical thinking, financial analysis, and negotiation skills
- Ability to analyze complex market data and influence placement outcomes
- Ability to work with minimum supervision and accept direction on assignments
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including advanced Excel and Word knowledge
- Experience with Applied Epic is a plus
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities and deadlines
- Strong attention to detail for document accuracy
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment with strong customer service skills
- Experience with a broker/agent marketing large middle-market accounts to carriers
- Excellent knowledge of insurance markets
- Strong knowledge of applicable insurance coverages
- Proficiency creating required proposal presentation documents
- College degree preferred
- Must currently hold an applicable insurance license
- Professional designation such as CRM, CISR, CIC, AAI, ARM, or CPCU preferred
- Must abide by and maintain licensing requirements, including continuing education
