About the role

  • You'll possess a thorough knowledge of architecture/engineering practice with emphasis on design, construction methods, value engineering, integration of systems, building code, commissioning, and other airport standards and regulations.
  • You'll be proactive and assertive in the management of the project Designer of Record (DOR) to facilitate input and coordination of the design deliverables to maintain budget and schedule for the design phase and the overall project. Establishes collaborative relationships with stakeholders and the project team to progress the design and contract documents. Assures stakeholder concerns are managed effectively by the DOR.
  • You'll work on behalf of Accenture and SCDA as the client’s advisor in airport facilities design as necessary for each project assigned. Proactively manages design outcomes, schedules, communications, and various administrative tasks and prepares documentation as required.
  • You'll facilitate and document meetings, progress, actions, decisions, and owner input to deliver the design and contract documents to achieve quality standards on time and on budget. Seeks to prevent changes during construction through coordination and enforcement of quality standards.
  • You'll facilitate design reviews, page-turn reviews, oversight of comments, resolution of comments, and corrective actions on commences necessary for complete contract documents in adherence with the scope, schedule and budget.
  • You'll apply a comprehensive knowledge of various disciplines to be used during design and construction as well as methods and techniques to be utilized for installation. Manages delivery to the field including oversight of design changes, stakeholder requested changes, RFIs and submittals necessary to support the construction schedule.
  • You'll demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to converse and communicate complex subjects effectively. Experience and ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization and with key stakeholders including but not limited to airport staff, airport executives, tenants, and airlines. Resolves conflict in a diplomatic style with an empathetic ear to listen and understand, yet bringing clear, fair and concise adjudication. Brings strong leadership and ability to analyze and prioritize decision-making required to advance the design and meet the needs of the SCDA.
  • You'll be able to interpret and utilize schedule information, performance metrics and financial data to support the Project Manager. Provides consultation on negotiations and corrective actions related to design management and delivery to the Project Manager.
  • You'll possess the ability to use experience and/or self-research and analyze potential design requirements and governmental regulations.
  • You'll work with the Construction Management and Inspection Services (CMIS), QA team, field inspectors, residential engineers, and other Sacramento County Departments responsible for construction oversight.
  • You'll maintain an awareness of safety and health requirements and airport operations requirements to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and contract provisions for the protection of the public and construction project personnel.
  • You'll conduct other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • B.S. or higher degree in Architecture or related field, or equivalent experience
  • Registered Architect, LEED Certifications preferred
  • 10-15+ years of experience
  • 10+ years’ experience in airport/aviation terminal design and construction including fundamental knowledge of aviation, airport operations and airline considerations
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills to effectively lead and manage design progress and advise the client and Project Manager of potential issues, risks, and resolutions
  • Demonstrates proficient leadership skills including influencing outcomes, escalating concepts/issues and conflict management
  • Prior experience includes alternative delivery methods such as Design-Build, Construction Manager at Risk on projects over $250M or larger
  • Knowledge and experience with construction means and methods, resourcing, and schedule management for contract negotiation and change management
  • High level of proficiency and independent working ability in MS Office: Word, Excel, Outlook and Project and ability to work in the project management information system (PMIS), Kahua
